Manu Bhaker – India’s first medal winner at the Paris Olympics 2024, creates history.
Bhaker became the first athlete in the history of independent India to win two medals in a single Olympics edition.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won a historic bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team shooting event after defeating South Korea on Day 4 of the Paris Olympics 2024.
Earlier, Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting with a bronze at Paris 2024 in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
Bhaker made history by becoming the first female shooter from India to win an Olympic medal. She joined an exclusive club of Indian Olympic medallists, which previously had just four male shooters.
Manu Bhaker is now only the second Indian woman, after badminton great PV Sindhu, to win two Olympic medals.
PV Sindhu made history by becoming the first Indian woman to collect two medals at the Olympics after defeating China’s He Bingjiao 21-13, 21-15 in the bronze medal match in Tokyo. She had won a silver in the last Olympics in Rio after losing in the final to Carolina Marin.
With two bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, gold medals at the World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Youth Olympic Games, Manu Bhaker has become the most successful Indian woman shooter in history at a very young age.
